EPSRC Senior Portfolio Manager for Energy & Decarbonisation, and Research Lead for multiple Industrial Strategy Challenge Fund (ISFC) programs.
Heather Macklyne is acting Research Lead at the Engineering and physical sciences research council (EPSRC) for the Industrial Strategy Challenge Fund programme, ‘Prospering from the Energy Revolution’. This program aims to prove the future business models and local approaches that will put energy users and consumers at the heart of a cleaner, cheaper and more resilient energy system. Heather’s role is to ensure the EnergyREV consortium delivers on research objectives and adds value to the whole ISCF program. In addition, her role within the Energy team at EPSRC includes working on the ongoing development of a program which will contribute to achieving Net-Zero.
Heather has a background in biochemistry and before joining EPSRC competed a PhD in genetically engineering bacteria for biofuel production. Heather has previously worked in many roles within UKRI, leading on multiple bilateral international partnerships including for STFC as the CERN Senior Program Manager, and EPSRC as Portfolio Manager for Nuclear Energy, and the Structural and Ground Engineering Portfolio.
