Matthew Hannon

Matthew is a Senior Lecturer and the Director of Research at the Hunter Centre for Entrepreneurship, within the University of Strathclyde’s Business School. His research examines the policy and market conditions necessary to accelerate innovation of low-carbon energy technologies and business models. In terms of impact he has written reports on behalf of the Labour Party and World Energy Council, been cited in government and parliamentary reports and currently sits on Scottish Power Energy Networks’ Customer Engagement Group to inform their five year business plan for Ofgem’s RIIO-ED2. Matthew is a council member of the British Institute of Energy Economics, chair of the community energy charity South Seeds and an Honorary Member of the Green Angel Syndicate. As Co-Investigator of Energy-REV, Matthew helps lead two separate but related work packages: business and finance (WP 2); and policy and regulation (WP 3). His extensive research expertise across both domains means he ensure the two work streams are strongly aligned.
