Research Associate for System Intergration

Callum Rae

Callum joined Heriot-Watt University’s Research Centre for Carbon Solutions in 2019 having worked in industry on energy systems modelling and design. His PhD from Strathclyde University on variable energy pricing in stand-alone energy systems led to a Knowledge Transfer Partnership on the development of a high-resolution energy systems modelling technique, later used in the design of the on-site Energy Centre at the P&J Live events complex. Within EnergyREV Callum’s research looks at the scale-up of SLES and the multi-disciplinary analysis of examples of SLES in the UK. This includes in-depth SLES case studies to develop insights from the knowledge and experience accrued by practitioners. This will provide a detailed understanding of the technical challenges faced by SLES projects, and how they can be removed or reduced in future.
