Iain Soutar

Iain Soutar is a Research Fellow at the University of Exeter. His research focuses on developing a better understanding of processes of change - and inertia - in energy and other complex systems, and the implications thereof for meeting policy as well as broader societal objectives. Past projects have explored the alignment of technological and social change within the context of community energy, the unintended consequences of sustainable innovation, and the meaning and implications of digitalisation and democratisation. Within EnergyRev, Iain is working on Work Package 4 to understand how logics, rationales, and approaches to user engagement affect processes and outcomes in smart local energy systems.
