Katherine Sugar

Dr Katherine Sugar is a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at the University of Edinburgh and University of Oxford. With a PhD in Geography from the University of Glasgow, Katherine has an interest in low carbon and inclusive transitions in cities. In particular, she is concerned with the multiple governing actors involved in low carbon and just transitions, the implementation of urban projects in practice, and challenges encountered and overcome. Her recent work includes the social evaluation of recent local authority-led energy efficiency pilot projects, as part of the Scottish Government’s Energy Efficient Scotland programme. Her work at EnergyREV built on the 2020 empirical research findings on UK local government action on net zero greenhouse gas targets (Net Zero Localities Report).
